A wide range of entrepreneurs, professionals, councillors and local residents came together on Friday at the old Peak Frean Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey, Southwark to celebrate the graduation of 10 participants from Tree Shepherd’s Grosvenor–funded Start Your Own Enterprise course.
The course ran over 8 full-day sessions from 2nd November to 25th November, and welcomed participants from across Southwark, looking to start a range of businesses, from fashion to acoustic music gigs, and was organised together with Big Local South Bermondsey. Each successful participant was presented with an end-of-course certificate by the Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Kath Whittam.
One of the participants, Gloria, who is looking to set up her own ‘networking’ enterprise said “I thought all the doors were shut before I joined this course…this course has opened them up again for me…..it has taken me back to basics, helped me to focus and to see the light.”
Grosvenor Group is funding two courses and an extended period of follow-up incubation support, to encourage residents in Southwark to start up their own enterprises. A second course will start on 24th February, so please feel free to contact us for further details using the contact information below.
Colin Crooks, CEO of Tree Shepherd said, “It’s fantastic to welcome another cohort of Tree Shepherd graduates to our ever-growing Forest Network, and we are delighted to have worked in partnership with Grosvenor Group, Big Local South Bermondsey, Bede and United St Saviour’s Charity, all of whom have such strong ties in the local community. I never cease to be impressed by the amount of talent and sheer get-up-and-go of London residents, and we look forward to helping their businesses to grow and develop. This course is just the beginning, and Tree Shepherd will be there to support them at every step.”
