New businesses are very vulnerable when they first start out, and they need nurturing and attention as they take root and grow. Tree Shepherd offers free support and guidance to local businesses through its regular face-to-face business clinics. These are confidential one hour sessions where our business advisors share their experience and work with the entrepreneurs to plan ahead and overcome obstacles to business growth.
Typical areas of support include:
- Understanding your market
- How to communicate to customers and potential customers
- Financial implications of a new business
- Registration and legal issues
- Our business clinics are free to access for people on benefits, or on household income below £25,100.

Elephant and Castle Business Owners
The 18th February 2019 was the deadline for business plans to be submitted and we successfully helped get 60 business plans into the council, whilst also helping others who are applying for premises outside the offer plus those who are not eligible for affordable units but need help and support to grow. This is where our expertise came in. Through a series of business clinics, peppered with workshops and seminars, our team of business advisors helped the business owners put together their business plans to relocate to affordable units.
The next stage will be assisting and supporting through the relocation and funding support process, more info to follow.
